The Core Guarantee: Zero Server Uploads
SmallPDFKit was architected from day one so that your files never leave your device. Unlike conventional cloud document services, we do not receive, view, transmit, or store any of your files or metadata.
1. How Document Processing Works
When you load a document into any SmallPDFKit utility (e.g. Merge, Compress, Split, Convert, or Watermark), the processing script executes entirely inside your device's web browser using client-side JavaScript, WebAssembly (Wasm), and native HTML5 Canvas APIs. All document manipulation occurs in your device's local memory (RAM). Once you close or refresh your browser tab, that temporary memory is discarded immediately by your browser.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- No Document Content: We cannot see, read, parse, or extract content from your PDF documents, images, or files.
- No File Names or File Metadata: Information like file names, author tags, creation timestamps, and page counts remain strictly on your machine.
- No User Account Information: We do not ask for your name, email address, passwords, or credit card numbers.
3. Log Files and Web Analytics
Like all web servers, standard non-identifying server logs (such as IP address, browser user-agent, referring page, and request timestamp) are collected temporarily to monitor server health, prevent DDoS attacks, and diagnose routing issues. These logs do not contain any personal data or file information.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
We do not use invasive tracking cookies. We utilize your browser's standard localStorage purely to remember your UI preference (such as your choice of Light or Dark mode). This preference stays on your device and is never transmitted across the network.
5. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising Disclosures
To provide free access to all tools without subscription fees, we display advertisements served by third-party advertising partners, notably Google AdSense.
